LONDON TERROR ATTACK.....

Awfully sad terrifying times when hearing about a terrorist attack isn't a shock.. Watching it unfold on the news last night and couldn't believe that people were trying to film it on their phones whilst armed police were running at them and screaming for them to run and leave the area. When did we become so desensitised that it is talked about so freely without emotion by some! to this atrocious evil act. Explaining to a 7 year old (who couldn't sleep) what was happening and seeing my 12 and 15yr olds afraid is heartbreaking... It truly scares me as to what world is going to be left for our children to inherit ðŸ˜¢ðŸ˜¢ðŸ˜
I feel angry that people have got such blatant disregard for life.
The emergency services last night were second to none, and watching it all unfold on the news live as it was happening showed they responded quickly and made sure people were evacuated and made as safe as possible. The police and emergency services were brave and professional in acting to save lives and deal with these appalling acts of terrorism,  and members of the public came together to help and protect others.
What do we do now? it seems that the general thing to do is write a prayers for families post, light a candle have a vigil and start all over again...same cycle is just continuing again and again and AGAIN!  This needs to stop something needs to be done.  I fear for my children's safety in this scary volatile world.
Stand strong London RIP to those who's lives were taken

ALIEN COVENANT REVIEW

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

A good film but it did leave you feeling a little deflated at the end. It had the gore and jumps of the Alien films but it left so much un-answered...what happened to Shaw ( it shows a little but not the full extent)...why did the Architects make us then want to destroy us, things I thought would get answered in this film but didn't. Fassbender was amazing as David and Walter and after doing some research I found that the next film is about him and Shaw and what happened and should answer all of our questions re what he did to her and what and who the Architects are. Daniels was great and had a Ripley vibe about her the rest of the crew were ok but not really that memorable. The Neomorphs were terrifying but the biggest geek moment for me was when we saw that first iconic egg pod and the first facehugger as we have come to know them, and then that moment that makes an Alien move an Alien movie....the chest explosion and the head of the FIRST ever Xenomorph emerging.  The best moment for me was discovering the evolution and engineering of the Xenomorphs. The ending was a little Nostromo-esque and the shower scene was Alien and Aliens worthy of best Xenomorph moments. Overall was a good film would give it 4/5

SUPER TASTY CHILLI 2 SYNS

This chilli is a firm family favourite.  Because it makes up such a huge batch it is only 2 syns per portion and is perfect for freezing and tastes as good as the day you made it when defrosted and re heated.  Because it is a chilli and contains spices it is totally up to you and your taste buds on how much of each you put in.  I love spicy so i add lots of chilli powder!

Button mushrooms (1 pack)
Red,green,yellow pepper
Garlic 2 cloves
Very lazy chilli seeds 2 spoonfulls( more if u like it hot!)
Ginger paste
1 onion finely chopped
1 courgette diced
1 celery finley chopped
Chilli powder (to taste)
Paprika 3tbsp (or to taste)
Cumin 2tbsp
Beef stock 200ml (or more or less depending on how watery you like it..you can always add more as it cooks)
Red wine 1/2 cup
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tin kidney or mixed beans
3tbsp tomato pureé
5% mince 500g

Fry off the mince (can use fry lite but i dont as mince has its own fat )

Add onion cook for 4mins then add the mushrooms, courgette, garlic, chilli seeds ,pepper and celery and kidney beans cook for 15 mins till soft

Add the tomato pureé, chilli powder, paprika, ginger and cumin...stir in then add the tinned tomatoes and beef stock, stir again and add red wine

Season with salt and pepper bring to the boil add lid and turn down to simmer for 20 mins....after 20 mins remove the lid stir (add more stock if necessary) simmer for a further 20mins with lid off sturring occasionaly serve with boiled rice!! Yummmmmy!!!

I tend to do the stock and wine by eye  you dont want it too wet but you dont want it dry either....sprinkle a little rock salt on when served and tastes lovely!

Spices are all to taste i love garlic so add loads lol makes loads and frezzes well  whole family love it

ENJOY :)

New Year...time to diet!

Christmas has been and gone and the New year is upon us.  I decided just before Christmas that when it was over and out of the way I was seriously going to get this diet thing underway.  I don't like to call it a diet I much prefer lifestyle change.

I will be joining slimming world on Monday 9th so that it is official until then I am trying to follow the diet myself.  I weighed myself and was devastated to see that I am the heaviest I have been for many years.  Takeaways and comfort eating have been my downfall.  I am an emotional eater and suffering from anxiety and depression is not helping.  I am not a chocolate lover but I do enjoy crisps and coca cola...My main change is going  to be no fizzy drinks.  I am going to try to stay on water and sugar free fruit juices and tea/coffee.  I can do this.

I have a whopping 5stone to loose and instead of unrealistic goals I am going to take it one week at a time and take whatever comes.

  1.  I will attend and stay to every group, even if I know I have had a bad week ( in the past I have stoped going due to the fear of i had probably gained that week).
  2. I will stay away from fizzy drink
  3. i won't beat myself up if I have a bad day...or 2!!
  4. I will remain positive and realise that even 1lb loss is fantastic
  5. I will weigh in 1...thats 1 day a week, I will not ecome obsessive and weigh myself at home every coupe of days ( again dont this in the past)
My frame of mind this time is different.  This time I want to loose the weight for me and not for what others might think of me.
